Heroes geekery
These images, found here, rather amused me:

I'm very fond of Heroes as it combines compelling characters with an pretty innovative plot structure. The one thing that does quite annoy me about the programme is the presentation of evolution. Whilst I can suspend disbelief and ignore the factually inaccurate talk about evolution, there are many pieces of dialogue that I could see confusing people who know little of Darwinism; even providing fodder for creationists' whining about "secular humanism" providing a basis for immorality.

Hiro still totally kicks ass, though.

Speaking of disbelief in evolution, have a read of this interesting article. I found the section comparing Wikipedia with evolution particularly fascinating.

w00t, another Heroes fan.

Heh, they forgot Molly: Google Earth/Maps (or Mapquest, if you prefer).

Also, House is awesome. It's probably the best thing on TV at the moment. Never heard of Weeds, though.

Have you seen Prison Break or Dexter? I recommend them.

Hah- first time I've had a comment on a post before I had a chance to edit it.

I agree about House. Without Hugh Laurie it'd be a decent enough show, but he manages to perform the character so well that it becomes truly excellent. Weeds is a comedy/drama about a suburban single mother who turns to cannabis dealing to support her children and lifestyle.

I haven't seen Prison Break, but I have seen the first episode of Dexter and enjoyed it. It's on my to-watch list.

You know that Ted is the best character on there. Being invincible, stopping time, flying and the like is all cool - but blowing shit up and giving people terminal cancer when you bitchslap them?

Ted has it going on.

Oh, also, if you're working on a to-watch list, cast your eyes over Kingdom Hospital.

it's tim
part of what i love about heroes is the way it's shot like a comic, even down to the "reshoot the same thing in different dialogue" starts of each episode and the "i'm talking in captions" voiceovers from Mohinder.

then lines like "up up and away" and "go break the internet in half" make me giggle like a schoolgirl.

tim says

My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red, than her lips red:
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damasked, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound:
I grant I never saw a goddess go,
My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground:
And yet by heaven, I think my love as rare,
As any she belied with false compare.

O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright!
It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night
As a rich jewel in an Ethiop’s ear-
Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear!
So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows
As yonder lady o’er her fellow shows.
The measure done, I’ll watch her place of stand
And, touching hers, make blessèd my rude hand.
Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight!
For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night.

now tell me some shit about weasels is shakespeare's best writing.

Re: tim says
basically if you don't think shakespeare is a good writer you have no taste in literature, you see. this is the point i'm trying to get across.

Re: tim says
Yeah, I know. I read The Merchant of Venice when I was quite young and enjoyed that. Nothing wrong with Shakespeare at all.

Re: tim says
the first piece is sonnet 130, incidentally, while the second is Romeo's speech in the ballroom when he first sees Juliet (forget the line reference, hahah).

shakespeare is a shockingly good writer. i actually enjoy reading his plays.
